A CENTRE for commonwealth education is to be created at the University of Cambridge’s school of education. It will be funded by the Commonwealth Institute, once a Foreign Office-funded quango, now an independent educational charity.
The institute has placed its landmark 1960s Grade II* listed building in Kensington, west London, on the market. It is currently used as a commercial conference and exhibition centre. The new centre will provide an international forum for bringing together and sharing the best in education policy and practice across the Commonwealth countries.
It will concentrate on research, educational leadership and project development: for example, it will identify centres of best practice and work with the countries concerned to disseminate their practice.
