Gordon Lawrie’s analysis punctures the pretty soap bubble of A Curriculum for Excellence (May 15).
If we care about educating our future, we need to change the aims: successful achievers - because they have learnt to work hard; knowledgeable individuals - because they have been taught by specialist teachers; responsible citizens - because they have been held accountable for their actions at school; and, through all of the foregoing, ready and able to be effective contributors.
Let’s provide them with an intellectually-nutritious education, not the insubstantial candyfloss of ACfE.
