The influential curriculum expert Christine Counsell is leaving her role at a high-profile academy trust.
The Norfolk-based Inspiration Trust told staff this morning that the former Cambridge academic will leave her post as director of education.
At Cambridge University, Ms Counsell was responsible for its renowned secondary PGCE history course.
She now sits on Ofsted’s curriculum advisory group, which is involved in the controversial overhaul of the school inspection framework, which is set to increase the focus on school curriculums.
Inspiration Trust director of standards Claire Heald said: “Having successfully launched the Inspiration Trust’s new curriculum and founded a substantial and innovative teaching training programme for our schools and for East Anglia, Christine Counsell has decided to pursue a broader range of curriculum and teacher development work both across the UK and internationally.
“We are extremely sorry to see Christine go but we wish her every success with sharing her ground-breaking approaches and ideas throughout the education community both in the UK and overseas.”
Ms Counsell was appointed in 2016.
At the time Inspiration Trust chief executive Dame Rachel de Souza described it as a “landmark appointment” which was “crucial to the next phase of the Inspiration Trust”.
