Daniel Pennac is best known to teachers for Reads Like A Novel, a wonderful account of leading children to books, now nearly 10 years old and hard to find. He’s also got a strong following for his Malauss ne thrillers about the sleuth of Belleville in Paris, published in the UK by Harvill.
You won’t find Pennac in person at the Books and Boundaries conference at the University of Surrey Roehampton’s Froebel College on November 15, but there is a session devoted to him. Other sessions include Penelope Lively in conversation with Ann Thwaite, James Naughtie on children’s books and the BBC Big Read, and workshops on Melvin Burgess’s controversial teenage novels, Jostein Gaarder’s Sophie’s World and Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl series.
