As far as photo printing is concerned, the latest Epson Stylus Photo 750 is very hard to beat. It offers high resolution and extra ink tones in its colour cartridge plus loads of software. As its name suggests, this printer is aimed at anyone - who requires a photo quality printer yet also need to print text - so schools are ideal candidates.
While the Photo 750 may not be the quickest around when it comes to printing text, the quality is excellent. However, it is when printing photographs that this piece of equipment really comes into its own, not only more nippy than any of its predecessors but the results are outstanding. In fact, it is so good at printing photographs that Epson uses it for photographic exhibitions.
Parallel, serial and USB connections are provided so you can use it with virtually any computer. The 750 comes with software that lets you adjust the output, set colour profiles, select media types and sizes ad add watermark-style effects etc. You can even print two or four pages on one sheet - useful when printing flyers and booklets. Add to this the impressive software collection, including Adobe’s PhotoDeluxe for PC and Mac and a number of photo-manipulation applications and you have an excellent all-round printer.
Compared with its rivals, the Epson Stylus Photo 750 has more than a slight edge, especially if you use the six-colour cartridge. Remember, with colour inkjets it is vital to budget for the cost of replacement cartridges as these can easily cost you more than the price of the printer over a short period!
The Epson Stylus Photo 750 is an excellent, no-nonsense inkjet machine that prints quietly and with excellent quality. The bundled software ought to be enough to sway your decision. At its current retail price it is very hard to beat.
