A new report from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, The Curriculum: Taking Stock of Progress, shows that one in three Year 8 pupils found information technology lessons too easy.
Children were often more technically advanced than their teachers realised, said Natasha Lee, a learning researcher at the education technology research body Futurelab. “Thousands of children have their own Myspace site and are communicating and developing stuff online, while at school they don’t have that freedom,” she said.
