The controversial Durand Academy is rebranding as Van Gogh Primary, as it attempts to move on from its troubled past.
The South London school, which has been at the centre of numerous scandals in recent years, has had its Department for Education funding agreement terminated and is being taken over by the Dunraven Educational Trust.
Tes understands that, from 1 September, Durand will be renamed Van Gogh Primary, although Durand Academy Trust will continue to exist for a few more months while it is being wound up.
The Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh lived on Hackford Road, in Brixton - the street where the school is located - for a year from 1873, according to Lambeth Council.
The school will be led by an acting headteacher, with an acting consultant headteacher.
The Durand Academy Trust is embroiled in a legal case with Ofsted over an inspection report that would have plunged it into special measures but was quashed by a judge.
Last week, it emerged that Ofsted has been given permission to appeal this ruling.
Tes understands that Dunraven will not be involved in the case, and that the residual directors of Durand Academy Trust will instruct lawyers.
