Organisations are being invited to set up their own learning events and list them on a online ahead of the Festival of Learning’s Have a Go month.
The Learning and Work Institute is working with Hotcourses UK to get education providers and learning organisations involved with Have a Go month in June. To be eligible for inclusion on the Have a Go Month calendar, events must be free of charge and take place in England.
Each year the Festival of Learning, organised by the Learning and Work Institute with the Department for Education, encourages adult learners to sign up for free courses to boost their skills. It follows on from the Adult Learners’ Week, which ran for 25 years.
‘We need to boost lifelong learning’
There are 1 million fewer adult learners than there were five years ago, and the festival aims to introduce adult learners back into the world of education.
Stephen Evans, chief executive of Learning and Work Institute, said the Festival of Learning is a great opportunity to showcase the value of lifelong learning, adding: “Continued education has incredible benefits, helping people with their careers, health and lives, supporting businesses and the economy to grow, and building an inclusive and active society. We need to boost lifelong learning so more adults gain these benefits.”
