Without need for connection or mouse mat, Logitech’s Cordless Mouseman Optical offers cordless freedom in the classroom, writes Roger Frost
Combining two very useful mouse innovations, this hybrid Logitech mouse is a marvel for those who demonstrate things on screen. The Cordless Mouseman Optical works via radio signals, so you can move around a class or hand it to a student. It uses optical tracking, so it responds well on any desk. And without need of a mouse mat, its no-ball design will never jam up with fluff.
Plugged into your computer’s mouse or USB port is a receiver that’s compact and easy to move between machines. Best of all for school use, when tried in different machines running Windows 98, 2000, and ME it didn’t insist on extra software to make it work. However, the software on the CD lets you customise a wheel and fourth button. Needing two AA batteries lasting three months (rechargeables work well), the benefits of cordless freedom show themselves brilliantly in the classroom.
