Deutsche Telekom is offering all 44,000 German schools free Internet access via ISDN lines or dial-up connections with no call charges. The “Schools Online” project, started three years ago by the company and the Federal Ministry of Education, has already connected 13,000 schools to the Net. The offer wll let schools set up their own websites and up to 10,000 email addresses. DT will also set up a separate schools portal on the educational section of its website. Gerhard Schroder, the German Chancellor, wants every school connected to the Internet by 2001.
