Small wonder then that two musicians from Leicester College grabbed the chance when offered the top of the Abbey Park Campus building as a venue.

Michael Vickers and Adrian Byrne, aka “Broken Fanclub”, played a 20-minute set on top of the four-storey building in front of a 40-strong audience as part of a summer recruitment campaign.

Lesley Pilling, marketing and communications manager at the college, said: “Someone in the office was joking about a rooftop gig at Abbey Park Campus - making the link with the Beatles and Abbey Road - and we thought `why not?’”

Michael, who like Adrian has just completed the first year of his performing musician course, said: “It was special being up there.”

The gig was recorded by the local Takeover Radio, which plans to broadcast it within the next few weeks.
