CHILDREN’S language skills have worsened because communication with parents amounts to a “daily grunt”, the director of the Government’s Basic Skills Agency said this week. Families spend too much time watching television or in front of the computer screen, according to Alan Wells. Every school should offer classes for parents to teach them to talk and play with their children, he said.
