The observations of Gerard Kelly and Warwick Mansell on the trials of Ofsted last week are apposite and necessary (“Unpopular is understandable - unfair is not” and “Office for standards in self-preservation”, November 27). Schools already have the stress of not knowing whether they will have a professional dialogue or a team that has already made up its mind from the data before it steps through the door. Plus, we now have the hysteria over safeguarding and the bizarre situation where heads have to worry about the height of door handles.
