TAMESIDE is not promoting high standards and the Greater Manchester authority will be revisited by inspectors within two years.
The Office for Standards in Education said there was poor consultation and communication, and much ground needed to be made up to establish relationships of trust with schools.
“Until this is done, there will continue to be weaknesses. Of these the most critical is th incapacity to support school management.
“The cumulative weight of the weaknesses signal that Tameside is not successfully promoting high standards in schools.
But inspectors did find good support for numeracy, governors and attendance.
“The LEA is providing the greatest support to those schools most in need and the weakest schools are improving as a result.”
