Scholars who belong to the best academic libraries already have on-line access to the full text of many educational research journals. They might not have fully exploited it yet: just remembering the passwords is my problem. However, resources such as the Bath Information and Distribution Service (BIDS) are making the Internet a very rich environment for academics.
BIDS’ ingentaJournals site is at http:www.ingenta.com and gives access to complete texts from research journals direct to subscribing institutions. Publishers’ own sites (like Carfax at http:www.carfax.co.uksubjonli.htm) are an important part of the picture too.
Those outside academe have a good chance to see the sort of thing they’re missing at Triangle Press’s free site. http:www.triangle.co.uk will let you find, read and download all the full texts from current issues of 15 educational journals.
