Lecturers need more training to cope with the influx of 14 to 16-year-olds into colleges, according to research.
A survey by the Learning and Skills Network says teaching staff will need better career development to cope with the Government’s “increased flexibility programme” - which places under-16s part time in colleges.Much of the current training is to do with child protection and behaviour management, but there is not enough support to help lecturers understand what is involved in terms of the curriculum, it says.
