Do you have a great story fighting its way through the school-related quagmire in your brain? Perhaps a story your early years, reception or Year 1 class loves (although you might work anywhere in education)? Can you tell it in 200 to 750 words and make time to start work on it over the Easter break?
While many children’s publishers look at unsolicited manuscripts that don’t have the backing of an agent, few advertise the fact. The Little Tiger Press, on the other hand, actively seeks out new authors, especially those with a teaching background, to supply texts for its picture books.
Little Tiger’s Search for a Story competition, in association with school book fair specialists The Travelling Book Company, offers pound;2,000 plus publication for the author of the best previously unpublished picture book story (words only) in English.
