MANAGERS fear they could be treated as second-class citizens when they rub shoulders with university staff at the National Leadership College.
The college, which is due to be operating by the end of April 2003, is aimed at providing all managers in post-16 education with the same quality of on-going training as they would expect in private industry.
Assurances are being sought after the Department for Education and Skills put out a consultation document on the college.
Peter Pendle, general secretary of the Association for College Management, said: “I need to be convinced that there will be parity and that the money does not go to benefit HE rather than FE.
“But generally we think it has made a good start,” he added.
