STUDENTS in Scotland affected by a computer glitch over exam results should be able to find out today whether they have won a place at their chosen university.
Students from elsewhere in the UK who have applied to Scottish universities should not be affected by the results mix-up, according to the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service.
As The TES went to press, UCAS said it was expecting the remaining Higher (equivalent to A-level) results of 2,800 Scottish students to arrive last night. Students can ring UCAS today to find out whether they have made the grade, or need o go through the clearing process to find alternative university places.
But if the results do not arrive today, affected students face a late entry into the clearing system, and may miss out on university places.
A UCAS spokesman said it was “anxious” that the results are received on time.
Any further delay would mean continuing disruption caused by Scottish applicants holding offers who later find they have not got the results they need.
The delays have already lead to the resignation of the Scottish Qualifications Authority’s chief executive, Ron Tuck.
