The TES appointed Gerard Kelly as editor this week. Mr Kelly was previously editor of The Times Higher Education, our sister paper, and oversaw that publication’s successful relaunch in magazine format in January. He praised The TES, saying it had dominated the education agenda for nearly 100 years, and added: “I intend to carry on that tradition.”
Louise Rogers, managing director of TSL, which owns both titles, said Mr Kelly had been an expert in the field of education for more than a decade: “I am confident that he will be an excellent editor of The TES and will put his undoubted talents to good use as the paper moves forward rapidly to serve the country’s 500,000 teachers.” Mr Kelly succeeds Karen Dempsey as editor.
