The decision by West Dunbartonshire to rebrand its education and cultural services committee as a children’s services committee may be welcomed by the Scottish Executive but has not gone down well with the Educational Institute of Scotland.
Local association secretary Ronnie Alexander objects to the change because it “seems to devalue the role of education”. Recalling the famous Blairite mantra, he bemoans the fact that the Prime Minister can use the word three times “so why can’t West Dunbartonshire use it once?”
