The British Schools Exploring Society is seeking young adventurers to take part in expeditions to the Amazon, the Antarctic, Greenland and the Himalayas.

This month, the society received the Royal Geographical Society’s prestigious Geographical Award for its work with young people over the past 75 years.

Major General Roy Wood, the BSES’s chairman, said that over 75 years the society has trekked 57 times around the world, discovered new bushman art in Africa, measured 133 Arctic glaciers and protected 30,000 turtle eggs.

“The environmental awareness that BSES builds within young people is perhaps more important now than ever before,” he said.
