I have read lots on the abolition of management points and the introduction of the new teaching and learning responsibility points (TLRs). I have just signed a contract to run until December 2005, with one management point for subject leadership. Does this mean that when the TLRs come in, I will not even be considered? And does it mean I will also not be protected for three years (or until my pay catches up)? Was signing that temporary contract a mistake?
You need to separate two different things. The temporary point is just for this term, until December 2005. As a result, it has no validity beyond that date, and no protection since it is for a fixed period. The school will be creating a new staffing structure for 2006 which will have to consider whether the teaching and learning responsibility grades are to be used to provide subject leadership. You can ask what will happen to your subject.
