* Joan Sallis (TES, November 21) calls for more dialogue about the factors which “promote pleasant behaviour, more expressive language, pride and self-respect” .
How ironic, then, that inside that TES was a promotional leaflet from Continuum for a series of books with titles referring to pupils as “buggers”. Both the language used and the attitude which underlies it are dismaying. A prerequisite for good behaviour is respect for each other.
Just imagine if the boot was on the other foot and a pupil referred (openly) to teachers as “buggers”!
