As part of a world-wide campaign to use energy with care to save fossil fuel and reduce pollution, Philips Lighting has produced a key stage 34 resource pack. It was devised and produced by a team headed by the Centre for Research, Education and Training in Energy and has been sent to all schools in the UK. HELP FOR MENTAL DISTRESS
Two million children and young people suffer from mental distress, says a free information sheet published by the Mental Health Foundation. Aimed at parents and carers, teachers and young people, it covers why the young experience problems, what they are, and where parents and carers can get help. Whether young people are going to university or have been kicked out of home, they need information to help them prepare in a planned way. Centrepoint, the charity for young homeless people, has produced a free booklettape with useful contact numbers covering such areas as: housing, further educationtraining and work, benefits, money management, health, and sex and sexuality. DEAF PEOPLE’S DIRECTORY
The Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People’s Directory provides information on around 200 sign language interpreters, lipspeakers, interpreters for deafblind people and speech to text reporters.
