A new edition of an artists in residence handbook, offering advice to teachers wanting to work with artists, has been published.
The guide, published by the St Katharine and Shadwell Trust, provides organisational tips for both one-off or short visits and longer-term residencies. It looks at the benefits of having artists in schools and the work they can offer, advising that residencies should meet an identified need, negotiated beforehand between the artist and the school. The handbook also offers advice on pre-planning and contracts.
The first edition, published a decade ago with TES support, sold throughout the UK.
