Awarding organisation Pearson has said some students may have to wait for their BTEC results because colleges submitted relevant data too late. 

Pearson said earlier today that about 250,000 students would receive BTEC results today - with many of them moving on into key sectors. However, Tes understands that some students may have yet to find out how they did in their qualifications.

After face-to-face teaching and assessment ground to a halt due to lockdown in March, this year’s results were based on units already completed prior to the outbreak of the pandemic, and centre-assessment grades for any work that could not be completed in time, which were submitted to Pearson by colleges. Results were then standardised by the awarding body. 

A spokesperson for Pearson said: “A few centres didn’t meet our deadline for submitting grades, rank orders or head-of-centre declarations and, where that happened, we have been clear from the outset that it could mean a delay in providing results to students. We are working around the clock to provide those results to centres and students as soon as we possibly can. ”
