FP has established a niche in the market for subscription services that provide a steady flow of curriculum materials. Its other publications, such as The Assembly File, already take the strain out of sourcing material for personal and social development education. This offering is no less valuable, providing in the first issue a comprehensive framework for primary or secondary citizenship education, arranged into four areas, alongside teaching and learning resources. The four areas which each issue will cover are: curriculum management, exploring the role of the citizenship co-ordinator; the citizenship toolbox, offering a range of useful strategies to support a whole school ethos; citizenship within the curriculum; and the moral and spiritual dimension, which presents associated issues such as anti-racist measures for schools to consider.
The timing of this publication coincides well with the parallel agenda of inclusion, now the centre of much attention from Ofsted and local authorities as the prerequisite of curriculum access and learning opportunities.
As always with pfp materials, the presentation is well structured, providing succinct definitions, practical guidance and a series of open-ended activities alongside case studies and model lessons.
