Last week our party of Year 6 pupils was midway through a residential visit to the Forest of Dean.
Late afternoon, the coach left them at the local swimming pool. After an enjoyable time in the water, they set off to walk back to the hotel.
When the pavement narrowed, the party organised themselves into single file, with members of staff at the front, middle and rear. Last of all was Mrs Taylor, valiatly encouraging the stragglers and carrying the “sick bucket”.
To her surprise, a car drew up alongside. The driver got out, walked up to Mrs Taylor, and tried to place a handful of coins in the bucket.
It’s interesting how the public perceives our schools - I wonder why they think we’re always fundraising?
