Star Wars actors Ewan McGregor and Denis Lawson sent students at a Scottish school a surprise video on what should have been their last day before heading out into the world.
Senior students at Crieff High School, in Perth and Kinross, should have been celebrating their last day in school today - but the coronavirus outbreak led to nationwide school closures last month, meaning usual last day celebrations were unable to take place.
However, in a tweet with the video message for leavers, the school wrote this afternoon: “Crieff High Leavers 2020 today would have been your last day with us & we wanted to mark it in a unique way in these unique times.
“Together, as one, go out and meet the world.”

The video starts with a message from Denis Lawson - who plays Wedge in Star Wars and went to Crieff Primary School as a boy - saying: “I’m sorry you can’t have a party right now, but I know when all this is over, you will have a party.”
Ewan McGregor, who plays Obi-Wan Kenobi and whose mother taught at Crieff High - and who is Lawson’s nephew - says: “I’m sorry it’s been such an odd end to your schooling, to be doing lessons on computer screens in your bedrooms or your houses, wherever you are, and not to be all together and to be able to finish together - it’s a shame for all of you and I’m sorry that you missed out on that.
“Nonetheless, I wanted to wish you all the best.”
The video then shows staff at the school sending their own inspiring messages to their students.
Replying to the post teacher James Liney (@JamesLiney) tweeted: “Well that is absolutely lovely. Well done all.”
