Thanks for your splendid piece on my Stephen Lawrence biography. Harvey McGavin’s article (“Life and death of a south London schoolboy”, Friday, April 20) was well structured and sensitively written.
It prompted excellent responses at the book’s launch and in subsequent letters and calls. First impressions are that the book will do well, and the aricle has obviously been instrumental in this.
We have had calls from schools, local education authorities and ethnic minority specialists, as well as three calls from the Metropolitan Police, the final one from the detective superintendent in charge of diversity at New Scotland Yard.
