The efforts of teachers and schools across the independent sector were praised at the TES Independent School Awards ceremony.
Comedian Simon Evans hosted the glitzy awards dinner at the Grosvenor House hotel on London’s Park Lane on Friday evening.
A total of 14 different awards were given out to schools across the evening, including the top award of Independent School of the Year, which went to New Hall School, a day and boarding school in Chelmsford, Essex.
Judges were particularly impressed by the holistic approach of the school’s leaders, concluding that it is “clearly an effective school at all levels and an exemplar of a can-do attitude throughout.”
The independent school also picked up the award for Financial/Commercial Initative of the Year for a project that promoted alternatives to car use for the journey to school.
