THIS MORNING I came into school to receive two items of information. The first was that I would be expected to accept a pay rise of (eventually) 18 per cent in return for about 20 per cent extra time.
The second item was the news that the Scottish Qualifications Authority proposes to set Standard grade exams lasting 3 hours 15 minutes. I was astonished at first but then I remembered the news item from last year where the authorities confessed that many patients released under the care in the community project had vanished. Nobody knew where they had gone. Now I think I’ve solved the mystery.
