A group of Northern Ireland pupils were attacked by a gang of 20 while attending an Irish language course in west Donegal.
The eight teenagers were assaulted by men wielding hurling bats, with one of the boys needing stitches to the head.
The eight pupils were attending a three-week Irish language course for 15 to 17-year-olds at Colaiste Mhuire, Loch an Iir in the Donegal Gaeltacht. They were walking home after lessons at around 5pm when they were attacked. There have been tensions between pupils and locals in the past, said Donal O’Neill, joint principal of Colaiste Mhuire. MR.
