The CRB will check an individual’sbackground, then issue disclosure certificates to registered bodies such as LEAs or voluntary organisations.
Basic disclosures will show convictions that are not yet spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. These certificates become available in the summer.
Available now are:
* Standard disclosures, including details of all current and “spent” convictions, as well as cautions, reprimands and warnings on the police national computer.
* Enhanced disclosures, for those with regular, unsupervised access to children. They contain similar details, plus List 99 and its Health Department equivalent. The enhanced disclosure may also include information from local police records. This could cover highly sensitive information on individuals “known to” the police or who have been the subject of accusations or inquiries in the past.
More information on the CRB is available on its website: http:www.crb.gov.uk. Or call the CRB information line - 0870 90 90 81
