The Education and Training Foundation is seeking the views of teachers, trainers, leaders and management in further education for a survey on the future of functional skills.
The survey, which opens today, is part of the Functional Skills Reform Programme and is funded by the government’s department for business, innovation and skills.
It is open to anyone working in the FE, adult and community learning, offender learning, private training, and work-based and union learning sectors.
Questions centre around the role of digital skills and technology, the structure and size of qualifications, the distinction between levels, the motivation for learners and CPD.
Sue Southwood, programme manager at the ETF, said that functional skills had already made a significant difference to many people, and the feedback in this survey would help the ETF ensure these qualifications were fit for purpose across the wide variety of settings in which they are taught.
She said: “We want to support innovative and dynamic forms of delivery, leading to better outcomes for learners by giving them the skills and confidence to thrive in learning, in work and in life. It’s therefore essential that we hear from people working on the ‘front line’ - your views and experience will be invaluable.”
The survey will be open until 5pm on Friday 24 June 2016.
