LATIN was one of his favourite subjects at school, world snooker champion Peter Ebdon revealed when he returned to his alma mater to present student achievement awards. He visited Highbury Grove secondary in north London as his first official engagement following his victory over Stephen Hendry last week. His former Latin teacher Roger Digby, now director of studies for Year 11, said: “Peter is a wonderful role model for students. He has shown what can be achieved by hard work, determination, skill and single-mindedness.” Peter, 33, was a Highbury Grove pupil from 1980-85. He played the oboe in the school orchestra, and reports refer to him as a studious and conscientious child.
