What do the powers that be expect authors to do when they visit schools? Where is this all going to end? I was one of the first six writers who did the test run for the Writers in Schools scheme and it was obvious from the beginning that there was a lot to be gained by readers and writers. Some children will contact speakers directly in the future.
One must leave parents and heads to keep their own children safe and guide them to deal with difficult situations and people from an early age. I still go into schools and, no, I am not going to pay Pounds 64 for the privilege.
