Reports of sexual abuse and harassment have been made at almost 3,000 schools in the UK, according to a website where students have been anonymously sharing their experiences.
The Everyone’s Invited website last night named 2,962 schools from which it has received such reports - just hours before schools inspectorate Ofsted published a hard-hitting report telling headteachers they must act on the assumption that sexual harassment is happening in their schools.
However, campaigners at Everyone’s Invited say some students may have been “silenced” by heads.

In a statement, the group said: “The schools we should be worrying about are the schools not mentioned on Everyone’s Invited.
“Some school heads have told their pupils not to share their testimonies with Everyone’s Invited.
“Why are some headteachers silencing survivors?
“Why is the reputation of institutions being prioritised over victims of rape and sexual abuse?”
The website previously published a list of more than 80 UK universities - a number of which were mentioned more than 50 times - which highlighted allegations of a “rape culture”.
Everyone’s Invited says it has received a total of 16,554 anonymous testimonies from survivors of such abuse in educational institutions.
