The problem – I’m nearing the end of my first four years in teaching. While my teaching is rated outstanding, I find my form group as challenging as in my first year. I blame it on first having them when I was inexperienced. How can I assert my authority?

Behaviour: Low-level disruption
I’m an NQT and I’m having a few issues with low-level disruption. I have attempted to implement the strategies suggested by my mentor, but although some are working I keep being told that the issue is classroom `presence’. What can I do?

Behaviour: boistrous pupils
I’m an NQT and have taken over a class after their teacher went on long- term sick leave. The pupils have been between teachers for a while and behaviour has lapsed. Even rewards and sanctions have been unsuccessful. What can I do?

The problem: I am struggling with a bottom set of Year 9s and am getting somewhere, but whenever they make posters the crayons get thrown around. I could say they cannot use them, but some children are not capable of much else. How can I stop them?
