Baroness Barran will continue as a minister at the Department of Education, having been reappointed by prime minister Liz Truss.
She served as minister for the schools system from September last year but her portfolio in the new government has not yet been announced.
In that role, she was responsible for leading the government’s controversial Schools Bill through the House of Lords and received praise from some peers for her handling of this despite the legislation running into difficulty.
Tes revealed last week that Jonathan Gullis is the new minister for schools standards after he posted this on his LinkedIn page, but this has not been formally announced.
He was one of three new appointments to the DfE by Ms Truss earlier this month.
Kit Malthouse was appointed education secretary and Kelly Tolhurst has been appointed as a minister of state, although her portfolio has also not yet been announced.
