The chief executive of one of the largest multi-academy trusts in England is stepping down at the end of the academic year.

Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) CEO Nick Hudson (pictured) will retire in July after almost six years in post. The trust educates more than 30,000 pupils in 43 schools, which are spread across England.

“While I look forward to what retirement will bring, there is no doubt that I am also very sad to be leaving such a wonderful organisation,” said Mr Hudson. “It has been an honour both to lead an academy trust which so values its pupils and students, their families and communities, and to work with such an outstanding group of colleagues.”

It was also announced today that OAT chair Dr Paul Hann stepped down at the end of last year. He has been replaced by Julius Weinberg, who has previously been the vice-chancellor of Kingston University, the deputy chair of Ofqual and the chair of Ofsted.

OAT said it has started a recruitment process to appoint Mr Hudson’s successor.
