The chair of the Confederation of School Trusts (CST), Rob McDonough, will be stepping down.
CST announced the news in a briefing sent to members today. Mr McDonough, CEO of East Midlands Education Trust, has been in the role for five years.
The process to elect a new chair will “begin soon”, CST said. Vice-chair Rory Blackwell will be stepping up as interim chair until a new chair is found.
In the briefing, deputy chief executive Steve Rollett announced: “Rob McDonough has decided it is the right time for him to stand down as chair of CST after five years in the role.
“We would like to thank him for his service in those five years as we have built CST to the size and scale that it is today.”
Mr McDonough has been chair of CST since before it relaunched to become a sector body for multi-academy trusts. It was previously known as the Freedom and Autonomy for Schools - National Association.
