Futura Learning Partnership has appointed Gary Schlick to be its next chief executive officer.
Mr Schlick, currently the deputy chief executive and director of education at the multi-academy trust, will step up to the top job in September following the retirement of the current CEO, Andrea Arlidge.
Futura Learning Partnership has 27 schools in the South West region - primaries and secondaries, and one special academy.
More MAT appointments:
The trust currently has more than 10,000 pupils and around 1,500 staff.
Ms Arlidge was the founding CEO of Futura, which was set up in 2011.
Mr Schlick has worked at the MAT for five years and was formerly CEO of Clevedon Learning Trust before it merged with Futura in 2022.
Next Futura boss ‘inspired by staff’
He has worked in schools for 30 years, including as a headteacher and director of education.
Mr Schlick said he is “continually inspired by the unswerving dedication and passion” of Futura’s staff.
“We are a committed team, determined to make a positive impact on the lives of our pupils and the broader community,” he said.
“My career has been focused on making a difference to children and young people.
“I have seen first hand the power of collaboration; the additional value to be gained by being part of a trust, a family of schools. We achieve so much more together than we ever could as a single school.”
Malcolm Broad, chairman of Futura’s board, said: “Gary Schlick has been appointed to this crucial and important role following a rigorous internal recruitment process. We are sure he will prove a worthy successor to our founding chief executive, Andrea Arlidge, whose dedication to the education system in our region has made a huge impact on countless lives.”
