The members of the Scottish Parliament’s new education committee have been revealed.
Now officially called the Education, Children and Young People Committee - in the last Parliament it was known as the Education and Skills Committee - it includes several newly elected MSPs, including one, Kaukab Stewart, who was working as a teacher until May’s election.
The membership of the committee was agreed in the Scottish Parliament late yesterday. The convener and deputy convener will be elected next week at the first meeting of the new committee.

One member, SNP MSP James Dornan, is a former education committee convener. All four opposition parties’ education spokespersons are also on the committee.
The education committee members are Kaukab Stewart (SNP), Bob Doris (SNP), James Dornan (SNP), Fergus Ewing (SNP), Stephanie Callaghan (SNP), Oliver Mundell (Conservative), Stephen Kerr (Conservative), Michael Marra (Labour), Ross Greer (Green) and Beatrice Wishart (Liberal Democrat).
