The Tes Schools Awards have been held tonight for the 15th year to celebrate the commitment, quality and innovation shown by teachers and support staff across the UK.
The awards brought together nominated teachers and schools from across the UK state and independent settings, including early years, primary and secondary schools.
A panel of judges - including school leaders, experts and education researchers - has helped select the 2023 winners, who were announced this evening at a gala ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
This year, there were 21 award categories, including two special awards; the award for new resource author of the year, which went to Dan Pearle for his “One Stop Assembly Shop” - a “how to” guide for inspirational school assemblies - and the lifetime achievement award, which went to Dr Elizabeth Sidwell, who was national schools commissioner for England from 2011 to 2013.
Jon Severs, Tes editor and chief judge of the Tes Schools Awards, said: “With these awards we honour the education community, whom we’ve served for nearly 113 years. This year has seen some incredibly high-quality entries.
“These awards showcase just how vital our education professionals are to every facet of this country. Teachers, leaders and support staff all play such an important role in schools. This is our chance to say thank you for all that they do.”
