Multi-academy trust chief executives, headteachers and governors are among those appointed from the schools sector in the King’s Birthday Honours list, announced tonight.
Among the prominent names in education to be honoured this year are Mark Ducker, former chief executive officer of STEP Academy Trust, and Simon Lebus, who was the interim chief regulator at Ofqual. They have both been appointed CBE for services to education.
Rev Canon Nigel Mark Genders, chief education officer at the Church of England, and Judith Ragan, trustee at The Queensmill Trust, have also been appointed CBEs in this year’s list.
Rev Canon Genders said he was “honoured and delighted” to receive the award.
He added: “As chief education officer, I have sought to catalyse and lead a movement which seeks the formation of children for the transformation of the world, and I am privileged to see the difference the national and diocesan teams, teachers and leaders and all of our wonderful schools, colleges and universities are making in this regard.”
