Schools Have Been Unable To Submit Teacher Assessed Grades After A Portal To Receive The Results Crashed Today.

Schools have been unable to submit teacher-assessed grades for GCSEs and A levels a day before the final deadline after one of the country’s biggest exam board’s portals for results crashed.

OCR warned this afternoon that it may take the rest of the day to resolve issues with its grade submission system.

The exam board tweeted earlier today that it was aware of an issue with the system and was working urgently to address it.

And this afternoon, it tweeted: “We’re currently fixing the issue with our grade submission system which may take the rest of the day to resolve.

“We’ll let you know as soon as the system is available again. We’re really sorry for the inconvenience this is causing at such a busy time.”

Teachers reacted with frustration on social media.

One assistant headteacher highlighted how the staff needed to submit the grades were not available tomorrow and the school had planned to complete the process today.

In a tweet, Jo Dickinson asked: “Will you be extending the submission deadline? My head of centre is not available tomorrow, we had scheduled completion of the HOC declaration for today but this has not been possible.”

Teachers have had to assess and produce grades for qualifications this year, including GCSEs and A levels, after examinations were cancelled because of the Covid crisis.

They have been given a deadline of tomorrow to submit their final teacher-assessed grades to exam boards.

OCR said that the issue was resolved later in the day.

A spokesperson said: “We became aware that schools and colleges were unable to submit results to our Grade Submission System around lunchtime today.

“The problem has been resolved and all our schools and colleges are able to submit grades. We would like to apologise to our schools and colleges for the inconvenience this may have caused at such a busy time.”
