Global schools group Cognita has expanded its international presence by partnering with Doukas School in Greece, bringing 1,700 students and 200 colleagues into its fold.
Cognita today announced the move, which marks its first collaboration in Greece. This brings Doukas School into Cognita’s family of more than 100 schools worldwide.
The group says that Doukas educators will be able to exchange insights with more than 21,000 colleagues globally, with programmes including continuing professional development and training in partnership with IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society.
Doukas School is in Marousi, near Athens, and its history stretches back to 1917. The school spans kindergarten through to high school, offering the Greek national curriculum, the International Baccalaureate and A levels.
Germà Rigau, managing director for continental Europe at Cognita, said the group was “thrilled” by the announcement, adding: “We look forward to collaborating with [Doukas School’s] exceptional leadership team and educators to drive innovation in education, both locally and across our global community.”
Konstantinos Doukas, CEO of Doukas School, said the move “not only reinforces Doukas School’s pioneering role in the educational landscape but also marks a new chapter in our 107-year legacy, enhancing our reach and impact within Greece and beyond”.
Cognita was founded in 2004 and comprises more than 100 schools in 17 countries. There are more than 95,000 students and 21,000 staff across Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the US.
