Forget about charades, board games and repeats of Only Fools and Horses - ‘tis the season to do some extra maths, at least for those in Scotland.

Education and deputy first minister John Swinney has set some festive maths puzzles for P6 pupils - aged around 10 - in a bid to generate more interest in the subject.

But can you solve the puzzles? Find a couple of examples below and the full complement of questons here (and, if you’re particularly keen, you can do the puzzles for the inaugural instalment of Mr Swinney’s challenge in 2017).
